Automated Sorting Systems

The ideal solution for Intralogistics needs

Product sorting is a key stage in the operation of every warehouse. From receiving and storage to picking and shipping, sorting processes ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods. Whether it involves grouping products by SKUs or organizing orders by delivery route, the correct application of sorting systems is crucial for the efficiency and speed of the supply chain.

Voyatzoglou, in collaboration with leading European and international manufacturers, offers the Greek market a complete range of automated sorting systems. Ideal for cartons, parcels, packaged foods, garments, or small items, our systems have proven their reliability in dozens of installations worldwide.

The following sorting systems have been proven as effective solutions for warehouse automation. With the continuous evolution of technology, modern equipment offers even higher performance, ensuring greater speed, precision, and operational stability.

Operating Principle

The operation of sorting systems is based on transferring products via special means such as conveyor belts or roller conveyors. Regardless of the system type, the basic principle remains the same: products are placed on the transport medium and move toward the sorting area, where they are identified and separated based on specific characteristics such as barcode or other identifiers.

Modern systems offer flexibility in operation, with options for turning, tilting, and transferring to different levels and areas of the warehouse. Activation can occur by zone (sectional) to save energy or globally when maximum performance is required.

The main differentiation among systems lies in the diverting mechanism, which redirects items from the main line to secondary lines, serving as sorting destinations for product grouping.

Benefits:

  • Robust construction and long-term reliability
Systems that ensure stable operation even under continuous use conditions.
  • High performance and precision
Sorting systems maintain consistent speed and accuracy, improving overall warehouse efficiency.
  • Time and operating cost savings
Simple architecture and ergonomic design facilitate smooth operation, quick maintenance, and easy repair.
  • Energy efficiency
Zone control operation ensures energy savings without reducing performance.

Sorter types:

  • Horizontal Cross Belt Sorter
  • Split Tray Sorter
  • Vertical Cross Belt Sorter
  • Pouch Sorter

Horizontal Cross Belt Sorter

The Cross Belt Sorting System is the key to success in applications that require high speeds. Items are placed on conveyor belts that can rotate perpendicular to the main line’s direction of movement, pushing products to the right or left toward their designated destinations.

This system is ideal for industrial and warehouse applications where product size and weight are critical factors. It can handle and sort items up to 50 kg, maintaining high accuracy and stable operation.
Examples of suitable products: cartons, parcels, small packages, packaged foods, product catalogs, envelopes, multimedia products, clothing items, etc.

Benefits:

  • Wide belts for handling larger and heavier items
  • High sorting speed even for heavy products
  • Capability to handle bulk items
  • Easy and cost-effective maintenance
  • Quiet operation even under full load

Weight up to 50kg

Up to 20,000 products / hour

Vertical Cross Belt Sorter

The Vertical Cross Belt System is suitable for sorting products weighing up to 35 kg, such as cartons, parcels, packaged foods, tools, garments, etc.

It is a variation of the classic Cross Belt system, with the difference that the belts return underneath the main line instead of turning sideways, saving warehouse space. Although it requires slightly more installation height, it offers maximum efficiency with a smaller footprint.

Benefits

  • High sorting speed for large product volumes
  • Operational flexibility: fully automatic, semi-automatic, or manual loading
  • Space saving thanks to the vertical belt path
  • Quiet operation even at full load
  • Low carbon footprint due to optimized energy consumption

Weight up to 35kg

Up to 14,000 products / hour

Small carbon footprint

Energy efficient

Split Tray Sorter

The Split Tray Sorting System is used for sorting light, small, and non-fragile items weighing up to 12 kg, such as packages, bags, clothing, jewelry, pharmaceuticals, envelopes, books, etc.

It consists of a chain of moving trays on which products are placed. When a product reaches its correct destination, the tray opens, allowing the product to fall onto an inclined chute leading to its final destination.

Benefits:

  • Compact construction that saves space
  • Quick and easy installation and maintenance
  • Safe and reliable sorting operation, ideal for small and lightweight products

Weight up to 12kg

Raised side walls

Up to 10,800 products / hour

POUCH SORTER

Advanced sorting system for the fashion and e-commerce industry

The Pouch Sorter is an advanced system designed for sorting garments and lightweight products — ideal for modern e-commerce needs. It quickly reprocesses returned items to make them ready for new orders, supports store replenishment, and enables direct order shipping to customers. With reliability, speed, and flexibility, the Pouch Sorter transforms garment handling into an efficient, automated process.

Each product is placed inside a pouch that hangs from rails. Each pouch carries an RFID tag, allowing complete tracking during movement. The system delivers each pouch accurately to the packing stations. It handles products of various types and sizes — from garments to packaged items and books — and efficiently manages large order volumes and returns. Thanks to its modern and simple design, it easily adapts to different facilities, utilizing vertical warehouse space even in complex layouts.

Benefits:

  • High-volume handling capacity
  • Manages items up to 500 × 400 × 160 mm and 3 kg
  • Handles garments in bags or on hangers
  • Suitable for all order combinations from small e-commerce to large retail
  • Ideal for small, lightweight, and irregularly shaped items
  • Flexible productivity adjustment during peak seasons (e.g., Black Friday)
  • Efficient return management (the increasing use of e-commerce has led to a rise in product return rates, especially in fashion, exceeding 30%)
